Second Sunday Brunch Bunch (and Baby Boy Shep's Sprinkle): Sissy's Southern Kitchen

We had a very special installment of the Second Sunday Brunch Bunch in May at Sissy's Southern Kitchen, as my girls were sweet enough to throw a little "sprinkle" in honor of Baby Boy Shep.

Lolly was even able to make it up from Austin.

I love this picture (and these girls) so much!

The meal was fantastic as well.

We started out with the Squash Puppies, which come with whipped Texas Honey Guild butter and jalepeno jelly. The mix of honey butter and jalepeno jelly was surprisingly good.

The other ladies ordered mimosas and bellinis, and the waiter was kind enough to suggest a few of their cocktails that make for good "mocktails," including this Moonshine Punch. It was quite tasty, but I definitely missed the booze :).

Erin ordered the Short Rib Hash, which she loved.

And both Jill and Rachel were big fans of the Biscuits & Black Pepper Cream Gravy, with sausage and potato hash. The biscuits definitely stole the show.

Rachel also ordered the Grapefruit Brûlée. It was gorgeous! I am going to have to attempt this at home.

Sarah went with the Chicken & Dumplings, which she said was delicious.

And Lolly and I both ordered the Chicken & Waffles (clearly). The fried chicken was really good, and the waffles were just like the ones my grandmother used to make (I also recommend getting the gravy on the side). But it was a bit hard to eat since the chicken was on the bone. Worth the effort though.

I wish I had captured a picture of the full gift table, but I did manage to get the adorable book and toy-filled truck from Rachel.

As well as this hilarious squirrel bag from Sarah. Amazing.

Baby Boy (and Mama) felt very spoiled with all the fun gifts, including...
They will all be put to good use…especially the breastmilk alcohol testers :).

Thank you, ladies!!

About Me

My name is Catherine, but most of my friends call me Cat. I was born and raised in Austin, went to TCU, and ended up in Dallas for law school (where Josh and I met). I decided that being an attorney was not my cup of tea and pursued a career in legal marketing. I am now a mother of two attempting to balance family with a full-time job, which is always an adventure. I love: my sweet babies, handsome husband, very large family, and fabulous friends; trying new restaurants; wine; TCU football; holidays; cooking; The Bar Method; pajamas; Topo Chico; reading; coffee; Central Market; carbs; the beach; mani/pedis; Anthropologie; binge-worthy TV shows and podcasts; trivia; French 75s; Pinterest; cheese boards; The Ticket; dancing; Sprinkles cupcakes; The Texas Rangers; fresh flowers; thunderstorms; naps; Tex-Mex; the Texas Hill Country; porch-sitting; ranch dressing; throwing parties; and my job. I hate: working-mom guilt; snakes; heights; waking up early; ignorant people; stomach bugs; paper cuts; green fruit; snoring; bad hair days; the sound of people eating (Misophonia); scary movies; bad drivers; pulpy OJ; trimming baby fingernails; and Miracle Whip. That pretty much sums it up.
